Alshaya Group has launched its first global offshoring hub in Egypt, marking a major step in its international expansion strategy. The new facility, called the Alshaya Egypt talent centre, was officially opened in Cairo under the patronage of senior government and industry leaders.
The launch took place at the company’s new head office in Citystars, Cairo. The event also marked the 20th anniversary of Alshaya Group’s operations in Egypt, highlighting two decades of business growth in the country.
The Alshaya Egypt talent centre is designed to strengthen the company’s global operations by using skilled Egyptian professionals. It will support digital services, IT operations, and business support functions across multiple regions.
The inauguration was attended by Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and John Hadden, CEO of Alshaya Group. The centre is part of a broader push to expand Egypt’s role in global outsourcing and digital services.
Officials say the centre reflects growing confidence in Egypt’s workforce. The country has a large number of young professionals with strong technical skills, making it an attractive location for international companies.
The project builds on earlier cooperation between Alshaya Group and Egyptian authorities. In 2025, the company participated in a high-level presidential roundtable chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Following that meeting, Alshaya signed a memorandum of understanding with ITIDA. The agreement focuses on cooperation in IT services, engineering, operations management, research, and talent development.
The Alshaya Egypt talent centre will also use ITIDA’s IT Skills portal. This platform helps connect companies with trained professionals and supports recruitment and career development for Egyptian workers.
John Hadden, CEO of Alshaya Group, said the company is proud of its long presence in Egypt. He noted that Egypt has played a key role in supporting the company’s regional expansion since it first entered the market in 2006.
He added that Egypt is now a strategic partner in Alshaya’s global operations. The new centre will strengthen that relationship by expanding technical and support services from Cairo to international markets.
ITIDA CEO Ahmed El Zaher said the launch confirms Egypt’s position as a leading destination for IT and business services. He said global companies are increasingly choosing Egypt due to its skilled workforce and competitive business environment.
The Alshaya Egypt talent centre will serve multiple international markets. Egyptian teams will support operations across 16 countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Central and Eastern Europe, Greece, and Cyprus.
Over the next two years, the company plans to expand the centre further. It expects to create more than 400 new jobs for Egyptian professionals during this period.
These roles will focus on IT services, digital operations, customer support, and technical functions. The company says the goal is to offer long-term career opportunities and skills development for employees.
The expansion is also expected to support Egypt’s wider economic strategy. The country has been promoting itself as a regional hub for outsourcing, technology services, and digital transformation.
The Alshaya Egypt talent centre adds to this effort by increasing foreign investment in the IT sector. It also supports government plans to develop the digital economy and create more high-skilled jobs.
Since 2006, Alshaya Group has expanded its presence across major Egyptian cities, including Cairo, Giza, and Alexandria. The company operates several well-known international retail brands in the country.
These include H&M, Starbucks, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, and American Eagle. Through these brands, Alshaya has built a strong retail presence in the Egyptian market.
The new centre represents a shift beyond retail into technology and services. It shows how global companies are increasingly using Egypt as a base for digital operations.
With the opening of the Alshaya Egypt talent centre, the company aims to strengthen its global network while contributing to local job creation and skills development in Egypt’s growing technology sector.
