Egypt is moving to strengthen its industrial sector by expanding cooperation with global companies. The Ministry of State for Military Production has held new talks with SC Johnson, a leading American producer of household and chemical products. The meeting focused on increasing investment, supporting local manufacturing, and expanding exports as Egypt continues its push for long-term industrial growth.

Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gombalat met with SC Johnson Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Fisk Johnson to discuss ways to deepen the long-standing partnership between Egypt and the US-based company. The discussions highlighted new opportunities for technology transfer, manufacturing expansion, and stronger economic cooperation.

During the meeting, Gombalat said the partnership with SC Johnson began in 1979 and has become a successful example of industrial cooperation. He noted that the collaboration between Abu Zaabal Company for Specialised Chemicals, known as Factory 18 Military Production, and SC Johnson has continued for more than four decades despite various challenges.

The minister said the strong relationship has created a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in the coming years. He added that both sides have worked together successfully to manufacture products such as insecticides, air fresheners, and household cleaning solutions.

Gombalat stressed that attracting foreign investment and increasing local manufacturing remain key priorities for Egypt. He said these goals support President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi’s vision of expanding private sector participation and strengthening the country’s industrial base.

He explained that partnerships with international companies help Egypt introduce advanced technologies into local factories. According to the minister, technology transfer allows Egyptian manufacturers to improve production quality, increase efficiency, and compete more effectively in regional and global markets.

The minister also said expanding local manufacturing can help create jobs, reduce reliance on imports, and increase exports. He added that stronger industrial production will contribute to higher added value for Egypt’s economy and improve the competitiveness of locally made products.

Gombalat emphasized that long-term investment success depends on adopting modern industrial strategies and better management systems. He said continuous improvement in manufacturing processes is essential to achieve sustainable growth and maximize returns for investors.

SC Johnson Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Fisk Johnson praised Egypt’s manufacturing capabilities during the meeting. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining its long-standing partnership with the Ministry of State for Military Production.

Johnson also expressed SC Johnson’s interest in expanding its investments in Egypt. He said the company sees significant opportunities for future growth and believes Egypt can serve as an important manufacturing and distribution hub for Africa and the Middle East.

The company believes Egypt’s strategic location, growing industrial capacity, and improving business environment make it an attractive destination for future investment. Expanding production in Egypt could also strengthen supply chains across regional markets.

Officials said continued cooperation between Egypt and international companies supports innovation, technology development, and industrial modernization. These partnerships are expected to strengthen local manufacturing while helping Egypt attract more foreign direct investment.

The latest discussions reflect Egypt’s broader strategy to build a stronger industrial economy through international cooperation. By expanding partnerships with global manufacturers such as SC Johnson, the country aims to increase exports, encourage technology transfer, and create sustainable economic opportunities for the future.

Both sides ended the meeting by expressing their commitment to building on more than 45 years of successful cooperation. They agreed that expanding investment, supporting local production, and sharing advanced manufacturing expertise will help strengthen the partnership and contribute to Egypt’s long-term economic development.
