Egypt and Qatar are moving to deepen their economic ties as both countries seek more trade and investment. Senior officials met in New Alamein on Thursday to discuss new projects and ways to expand business links.

The talks took place during the seventh meeting of the Egyptian Qatari Joint Higher Committee. The meeting brought together senior ministers and officials from both sides. They discussed investment, trade, tourism, energy and other areas of shared interest.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also met his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in New Alamein. The two officials reviewed ways to strengthen joint work in many fields. They also looked at issues that affect both countries.

Investment was one of the main points in the talks. Egyptian officials said the two sides want to build stronger links between their economies. They also want more private investment and long term projects.

A key area is the North Coast. Egypt is working to develop the region as a major tourist and investment zone. Officials say the area has strong potential to attract visitors and foreign capital.

Qatar has already taken part in a major investment project at Alam El Roum on Egypt’s North Coast. The project is part of wider plans to develop the area and raise its value as a tourist destination.

The two countries also agreed to explore more work through the Sovereign Fund of Egypt. Qatar may take part in investment projects in Egypt and in other African markets with Egyptian firms and investment bodies.

Industrial investment is another area under review. Egyptian officials said Qatar could invest in Egyptian industry through a special fund linked to the Sovereign Fund of Egypt. The plan could help support new projects and bring more capital into the local economy.

Trade is also expected to grow. The two sides discussed ways to improve business links and increase the flow of goods between their markets.

Tourism is another major part of the plan. Egypt wants to attract more visitors and develop new tourist areas. Qatar is also seeking more economic links with Egypt, which could support projects in hotels, property and other services.

The talks come at an important time for Egypt. The country needs foreign investment to support growth, create jobs and bring more money into the economy.

Qatari investment can help meet some of those needs. It can also give Egyptian firms access to new partners and markets.

For Qatar, Egypt offers a large market with a big population and a wide range of investment needs. Egypt also has a key location between Africa, Asia and Europe. Its ports, roads and major cities give it a strong base for trade.

The two governments also signed new agreements and memorandums during the committee meeting. Health was among the sectors covered by the new deals. Senior officials said the agreements could open a wider path for future cooperation.

Egyptian Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh said the new agreements could help create long term investment links. He also pointed to plans for more work between financial centers in Egypt and Qatar.

The two countries also discussed cooperation in energy and other key sectors. Officials said the talks were part of a wider effort to expand the economic relationship.

The meeting also had a wider political setting. Egypt and Qatar have worked to improve their ties in recent years. Their governments now want economic cooperation to become a larger part of that relationship.

For businesses, the latest talks could create new chances for investment. For Egypt, the main goal will be to turn plans and agreements into real projects.

The next stage will depend on how quickly the new plans move forward. If investment grows, the partnership could bring more jobs, trade and tourism to Egypt.

The talks in New Alamein show that Egypt and Qatar are looking beyond short term deals. Both sides are now seeking deeper links that can support growth for years to come.
