Multiple Danish Airports Disrupted by Unidentified Drones

    Officials Probe Possible Coordinated Activity

Authorities in Denmark reported drone sightings over four airports from Wednesday night into early Thursday, raising suspicions of a coordinated operation. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen described the flights as organized and likely carried out by a professional operator. Intelligence agencies noted parallels with other recent European drone incidents and suggested possible Russian involvement, although no party has claimed responsibility.

Flight Delays at Civilian and Military Locations

The affected airports included Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and Skrydstrup. Aalborg, which also functions as a military facility, faced the most significant flight interruptions, while Skrydstrup—home to Danish fighter jets—was similarly impacted. The drones, which flew with visible lights, were not intercepted by authorities. Officials confirmed that passengers and the public were not in immediate danger.

    Denmark Considers Strengthening Drone Defenses

In response to the incidents, Denmark is exploring new laws that would allow operators of critical infrastructure to disable unauthorized drones. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is engaging with NATO and EU partners to coordinate regional security measures, including a potential “drone wall.” Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard emphasized that the flyovers appeared aimed at creating fear and division, highlighting the need to reinforce protection at key facilities.
