    Incursion Raises Regional Security Fears
Polish authorities report that Russian military aircraft penetrated the safety zone surrounding an oil platform in the Baltic Sea. The Ministry of Defence called the move hazardous and carried out without prior notification, adding to ongoing regional tensions over repeated Russian airspace violations.

    Estonia Sees NATO Response
In a related development, NATO confirmed that Italian F-35 fighters intercepted Russian MiG-31 jets over Estonia near Vaindloo Island. The Russian aircraft were reportedly operating without filed flight plans, had their transponders off, and failed to communicate with local air traffic control. Estonian officials described the incident as a bold provocation and lodged a formal complaint with Moscow.

    EU Introduces Additional Sanctions
The European Union condemned the airspace breach as a serious provocation. In response, the EU rolled out its 19th sanctions package targeting Russian financial institutions, military-linked companies, LNG exports, and cryptocurrency platforms, while planning a total ban on Russian LNG imports by January 2027. The measures reflect growing concern over Russia’s military activities in the Baltic region and their implications for European security.
