The 2025 film festival season is underway, with events taking place across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts can now plan submissions and attendance with the latest schedules.
Several festivals are already running. Jakarta World Cinema in Indonesia continues from September 4 to October 4, while the 100% Manusia Film Festival runs September 4-14. The Toronto International Film Festival in Canada also runs through September 4-14. Other ongoing events include the Jakarta International Documentary Experimental Film Festival (September 5-13) and the Deauville American Film Festival in France (September 6-14). Cinehealth International Film Festival in the US takes place September 9-11.
September hosts a mix of documentary, international, and niche festivals. The Atlantic International Film Festival in Canada runs September 10-17, Camden International Film Festival in the US runs September 11-14, and South Korea hosts the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival from September 11-17. The Hong Kong Film Festival UK runs September 12-28. Minikino Film Week in Indonesia takes place September 12-19, Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival in Canada runs September 13-21, and the Women Over 50 Film Festival in the UK has an in-person event on September 13 and online from September 14 to October 12. South Korea’s Busan International Film Festival is September 17-26.
Other September festivals include Calabasas Film Festival, Clapham International Film Festival, Harlem International Film Festival, and The Valley Film Festival. European highlights include San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain (September 19-27), Filmfest Hamburg in Germany (September 25-October 4), Reykjavik International Film Festival in Iceland (September 25-October 5), and Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland (September 25-October 5).
October opens with Bolton International Film Festival, Dinard British & Irish Film Festival, and Marbella Film Festival, all from October 1-5. The US hosts Boise Film Festival (October 2-5), Mill Valley Film Festival (October 2-12), and New York Greek Film Expo (October 2-12). Vancouver International Film Festival in Canada also runs October 2-12. Major events include BFI London Film Festival (October 8-19), Film Fest Ghent in Belgium (October 8-19), Sitges Film Festival in Spain (October 9-19), and Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland (October 10-19). AFI Fest in the US runs October 22-26, and Tokyo International Film Festival is October 27-November 5.
October also features specialized events such as Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival in Spain (October 21-29), Doc ‘n Roll Film Festival across UK-Ireland (October 23-November 9), and SCAD Savannah Film Festival (October 25-November 1).
November highlights include Geneva Digital Market in Switzerland (November 3-6) and Rehoboth Independent Film Festival in the US (November 3-9). International events include Stockholm International Film Festival in Sweden (November 5-16), Cork International Film Festival in Ireland (November 6-16), and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in Taiwan (November 6-23). Specialized events include One Fluid Night LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in the UK (November 6-9) and Festival of Future Storytellers in Germany (November 14-22). Doha Film Festival in Qatar runs November 20-28, and Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco is November 28-December 6.
December concludes the festival season with Athens Avant-Garde Film Festival in Greece (December 3-15), Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia (December 4-13), and Sun Valley Film Festival in the US (December 3-7). The 225 Film Club Festival in the UK takes place on December 5. Filmmakers and organizers can submit or update festival dates by providing the event’s name, dates, country, and website.
